I also got a used Roland Gaia SH-01 for about the same price, and that's even more bang for your beginner buck if you're down to go digital- three oscillators, plenty of effects, a surprisingly serious arpeggiator bank (which is way better than its loop recorder), and up to 64 voices of polyphony so you'd have pads for days. I tried getting a MicroBrute as my first synth but the cumbersome sequencer and lack of effects were disappointing, and I don't recommend the Reface DX because FM synths have a reputation for not being beginner-friendly. It's got a great layout and little waveform window for learning synthesis, there's a basic sequencer that's pretty straightforward, and some of those bass and pad patches sound pretty decent. Not sure where you are, but one can find the original Minilogue used for close to the price of a MicroFreak in the US, and it's quite a bit sturdier (the MicroFreak has only been around for a couple of years and people have already run into serious issues with the touch plates).
